What should I do if the widget does not appear on my website?

Is the embedded video widget not appearing on your live store? We'll troubleshoot potential issues step by step in this article.

You've created a video widget, customized it, and installed it on-site, but it's not being displayed. In this article, we'll troubleshoot the issue.

Clear your browser cache

Your browser might be displaying a cached version of the page. Try clearing your browser cache and refreshing the page. You can do this by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-R for Windows or Command-SHIFT-R on Mac.

The Videowise app extension is disabled πŸ‘‡

Step 1: In your Shopify account, go to Themes β†’ Live theme β†’ Customize β†’ App embeds

​Step 2: App embeds β†’ Make sure the Videowise Shoppable Video app extension is enabled.

The video widget is not marked as installed πŸ‘‡


​Navigate to your widget β†’ Click Install widget β†’ Mark the widget as "installed" if you've installed it on your Shopify store.

No videos have been added to the video widget πŸ‘‡


​Navigate to the widget β†’ Click Add videos to include videos to your widget.
​


The video widget is set to appear on a wrong page πŸ‘‡


​Step 1: Click on your Widget βž” Click "use different videos/page" βž” Check the set up page URL for the video widget βž” Ensure it's correct without typos or mistakes.

​Step 2: In your Shopify theme, ensure this is the same page/URL you've installed the widget on.
​

Step 3: Verify that the URL from Step 1 matches your store page's URL in your browser.
​

The video widget is previewed on the wrong page πŸ‘‡

When using the video widget on a backup copy of your live theme, shoppable videos won't appear on the live pages or your store. Click 'Preview' on the working page, and publish the theme once satisfied to make it live.
​

The widget code (the div.) isn't pasted / pasted in the wrong place πŸ‘‡

This only applies to advanced installments β†’ when the installation was executed by copying the div. in the Shopify theme files. It's mostly the case with Shopify 1.0 themes, or for advanced theme customizations.

​Step 1: During the installation process, make sure you copied the code correctly for the right video widget.
​

​Step 2: Ensure the code is fully pasted into the correct file in your Shopify live theme.
