How to write category and tags prompts for Clips
This article will walk you through and show you prompt examples of how to set up proper categories and tags for your Videowise Clips.
Clips is a powerful feature in Videowise that helps you generate short-form videos from your existing content and organize them using Categories and Tags. Clips are short video segments generated by Videowise from your existing long-form videos or uploaded content.
Videowise uses AI to detect important moments inside your videos, such as hooks, product introductions, demonstrations, call-to-actions, and turns them into ready-to-use clips. Once generated, Clips can be organised, filtered, and managed from a dedicated menu inside Videowise. For better organization, you can create categories for your clips or add tags to them.
Understanding Categories vs Tags
Categories (Structural moments in a video)
Categories represent key steps or narrative moments inside a video.
Videowise automatically detects and assigns these to clips during generation. Examples of default categories include:
- Hook – attention-grabbing moments
- Unboxing – first impressions, unpacking products
- Product Intro – introducing the product
- Product Description – features and specifications
- Product Benefit – advantages or value props
- Before – problem or initial state
- Results – after using the product
- CTA – call-to-action moments
- Product Shot – focused product visuals
- Problem – pain points or challenges
Those default categories can be edited, deleted and changed by new ones, depending on what you are trying to classify for your content.
Purpose of Categories
Categories answer the question: ➡️ “What part of the story is this clip showing?”
You can filter clips by categories to build a storyboard, choose the perfect moments for ads, or quickly assemble specific types of content. You can create new categories to match your storytelling structure or campaign needs.
Tags (Detailed attributes inside the video)
Tags describe what or who appears inside the video, functioning like metadata. Examples of default tags include:
- Audio Type (no audio, only speech, music, etc.)
- Asset Type (UGC, green screen, pro studio…)
- Age Group of personas
- Personas (gender of the primary subject)
- Content Language
- Creative Style
- Lighting Type
- Setting
- Product shown
- Orientation (vertical, square, landscape)
- Caption (burned-in text or not)
Purpose of Tags
Tags answer the question:➡️ “What characteristics describe this clip?”
Tags allow even more powerful filtering, e.g., “Show me all vertical clips with female personas and English audio.”
Create a new Category

- Click + New clips category
- Name your category and describe what moments Videowise should detect using a prompt.

Here is where to find and interact with all your categories:

Create a new Tag
Tags in Clips allow you to add detailed, AI-powered descriptors to your videos so you can filter and organize clips with precision. While Categories describe the type of video moment, Tags describe the specific attributes inside that moment.

- Go to Settings → Clips → Tags
- Click + New tag
- Add a label to your tag: A simple, human-readable name. Examples: (Personas, Age Group, Lighting Type, Audio Type). This is what you will see in the Clips' filtering panel.
- A short set of instructions telling Videowise AI what to detect inside a clip and how to generate tag options accurately.
- Define what the tag represents
- Describe the criteria the AI should use
- Explain how the options should be applied
The prompt should:
- Add a prompt to detect and tag clips where the following attribute appears.
- Set tag options. These are the values that can be assigned to clips based on the AI detection, and you can add as many options as needed. (Age Group: Child, Teen, Adult, Senior ; Lighting Type: Natural Light, Studio Light, Low Light ; Audio Type: No Audio, Only Speech, Only Music, Speech + Music).
