How to set up your live show

This article will cover all the tools provided to set up and configure your next live show in depth.

Create a new live show

On the Videowise dashboard, first, head over to Live Shopping > Shows.

On the top right of the page, click on "New Show", and from the dropdown menu you can choose your video source

The video source section is where everything happens. From there, you'll be able to select from 5 different options:

  • Go live using device camera: Here, you can add an unlimited number of hosts by inviting them via email. If you are live-streaming by yourself, make sure to put your email so you can join the show as a host.
  • Pre-recorded video: You will be able from here to upload a pre-recorded video that was pre-recorded. (You can always replace the video source and upload a new one after you have scheduled the show.)
  • Custom source: It allows you to stream from any custom source. You'll have access to your stream URL, stream key, and playback URL that you can paste into the tool you are using.
  • Mobile app:
    • When using the Videowise Mobile App, before logging in, these steps must be followed:
        1. Create a Live Shopping event and set a host.
        1. The host needs to use the magic link to log in.
        1. After logging in, the host can set a password; after that, they can log in with their email and password.

The first login with the magic link must use the same email as the selected host.

  • New test show: are available for you to run and launch live test shows using all our available features.

Live show configuration

At the beginning of your Set Up, you can choose who can watch the live show and its replay by selecting one of two visibility options:

  • Public show: Anyone can watch. This option is fully promoted.
  • Private show: Invite-only. Viewers need a password or a magic link to access the show.

For shows you will be met with following options:

  • Hosts
  • Show details
  • Streaming channels

Show details

  • Show title (mandatory): Enter a title for your show. It will be visible to everyone and will appear on your live show widget.

Streaming Channels

Videowise lets you go live on your store and simultaneously go live on major social platforms. The "Your site" streaming channel will be activated by default, but you will need to connect and activate the integration between Videowise and other platforms before you can do that.

Notion image

As the process varies from social platforms, we have written an extensive guide on how to go live on these different channels:

When you select Private show, a confirmation prompt will appear noting that private shows are not promoted. By switching to private, the following settings will be turned off automatically:

  • Notifications
  • Live in channel page
  • Live widget

(Note: You can always turn these back on later under the Promote tab if needed.)

Notion image

Once a show is set to private, you will see fields to manage your access credentials:

  • Password: A randomly generated password is provided. You can click the Generate button next to it to create a new one, use the eye icon to view it, or use the copy button to copy it.
  • Magic Link: A unique secure link is generated for the show. You can use the copy button or the regenerate icon to update it.

Additionally, you can adjust the preview text directly beneath the Private Viewer Preview section to customize the messaging and instructions that invited viewers see first before entering their password.

Anyone who wants to join the private show once it is live will need to input the password or use your generated magic link.

RSVP Widget

We have written a detailed guide on how to set up and use the RSVP widget. Please follow this article to enable and configure it.

Moderate your live show

During a live event, the moderate section is only accessible through Videowise's dashboard, so make sure to have a computer ready in order to pin products, reply to chat, or change layouts of your hosts. Any member of your Videowise team account can access the moderation page simultaneously.

When you click on Moderate in the left sidebar, the workspace splits into dedicated tabs and live streams controls, including Products, Engage, Live Metrics (Viewers, Products sold, Revenue), video source channel switches (Site, IG, FB), layout options, and the live chat panel.

The main workflow sections include:

Products Tab

While we recommend adding them before the show starts, you can click + Add products to select items to be displayed on your live show video player, where viewers can buy them. Products can also be pinned pre-live or during the live stream to keep them on top of your product list so viewers don't have to scroll.

Notion image

Video Stream & Layouts

The central video area shows a preview of your live stream, your hosts, and connection stats. At the bottom of the video stream, you can manage host layouts (such as accepting hosts from the Lobby) and switch streaming views across your active channels (Site, IG, FB).

Notion image

If the live show is a single person, we recommend not touching the different layouts available below the video stream, and keep it to "Spotlight".

Engage Tab

When you click on the Engage tab at the top of your moderation dashboard, you gain access to interactive live tools. These features allow you to boost interaction and sales during your broadcast using the following tools:

  • Coupon codes: Set and display active discount offers (e.g., limited-time percentage or fixed discounts) with quick visibility toggles.
  • Add to cart notifications: Control prominent add-to-cart alerts to prompt immediate shopper actions.
  • Giveaways: Run live giveaways by configuring entry keywords and countdown timers, letting you start or manage winners directly.
  • Polls: Create custom questions and multiple-choice options, monitor live vote counts and percentages in real-time, and click Start poll to launch them.
  • Cart expiration: Set custom timer windows (e.g., 15 minutes) for cart reservations and apply them instantly.
  • Announcements (NEW): Schedule product drops and special messages with custom countdown timers (e.g., "Drops in 05:00") and a Go live button to reveal them to your audience the moment you go live.
Notion image

Chat

If enabled, the chat box on the right allows you to engage and interact with your viewers in real-time. As a moderator, you can post, pin, and reply to messages pre-live and during the live show.

  • Moderator name: When you post messages from the Moderator tab to the live chat, those messages will display a name. By default, this will be your Videowise account name. You can customize this by going to Settings > General and filling out the "Moderator name" field.

The moderator name is optional. If left blank, we'll fall back to your account name automatically.

Notion image

You can also send a message pre-live and pin it throughout your live session so your viewers have access to any offer instantly.

That's it, you're all ready.

Finally, just click on "Complete & Schedule" on the top right of your page.

Notion image

A modal will show so you can have a final review of all the main settings. Confirm once again and your show will be scheduled!

Notion image

Duplicate an existing live show

Save time when planning recurring events by duplicating an upcoming show, past show, or draft. Your show settings and product list are copied, so you don’t need to configure everything from scratch.

  1. Open the show you want to duplicate.
  1. Click the dropdown arrow next to the show title.
  1. Select Duplicate.
  1. Review the copied details and select a new date and time.
  1. Complete any remaining setup, then click Complete & Schedule.
Please note: Pre-recorded video sources and simulcasting settings are not copied. If needed, select your pre-recorded video again and configure the streaming channels for the duplicated show.

To run a proper live stream, make sure that your internet upload speed is a minimum 100mb/s to have a decent stream quality and avoid blurry images.

Live streams can have a maximum, uninterrupted duration on 12h. You should split your shows in several under 12h shows and schedule them accordingly if you have the necessity of creating longer than 12h shows.

If you have any questions or you are facing an issue with scheduling your live show, please contact us at support@videowise.com.
