How to manage the AI Visibility feature (UGC Wiki / PDP FAQs)
A guide to setting up AI Visibility, managing video-backed Q&As, and publishing UGC Wiki and PDP FAQ widgets on your Shopify store.
The Goal: Make Product Videos Understandable, Quotable, and Recommendable by AI
Videowise’s AI Visibility feature is designed to help products show up more accurately in AI-generated answers, recommendations, and citations by turning product videos into structured, evidence-backed product knowledge.
Most product videos contain valuable information: real customer language, product benefits, objections, use cases, comparisons, ingredients, sizing details, and proof points. But today, that content is mostly invisible to AI systems. LLMs and crawlers usually do not watch videos, interact with widgets, or understand what is being said in embedded video experiences.
Videowise solves this by extracting product-relevant insights from videos and transforming them into crawlable, structured Q&A content. Each answer is backed by specific video citations, so AI systems can understand not only what the product claims, but also where the evidence comes from.
The result is a product page that is no longer limited to static PDP copy. It becomes enriched with video-backed answers that help AI assistants better understand, recommend, and cite the product.
Main AI Visibility feature functionalities
- Analyze product videos and extract useful product knowledge
- Generate product-specific Q&A
- Generate accepted answers grounded in video evidence
- Create video citations

What video content is used for AI Visibility purposes
All video content from the Videowise Media Library and UGC sources is eligible to be used for LLM citations.
Before a video is used, Videowise scores its quality based on several signals, including:
- video duration, ideally between 15 seconds and 20 minutes
- presence of spoken audio, not music-only content
- whether the product is shown
- whether the product is mentioned
- whether the brand name is mentioned
After onboarding, Videowise automatically scans your library to identify useful AI Visibility content. This initial scan is called Backfill and usually takes around 20 minutes.
Backfill is important because it creates the first batch of proposed AEO Q&As.
During this phase, only videos with tagged products are selected. This helps keep the generated Q&As accurate and correctly linked to the right products.
After onboarding and backfill, the system enters a continuous learning phase.
From this point on, new video content from the Media Library and UGC sources is automatically analyzed, scored, and used to generate proposed AEO questions, answers, and citations.
All AI Visibility questions, answers, and citations are proposals, which means nothing is published on your site without your approval.
LLM’s entry points
This feature provides 2 new app blocks which render the AI Visibility content on PDPs and on a dedicated QA repository, on a separate page.
These effectively act as entry-points for LLMs, allowing them to discover the entire QA’s + citations graph.

In the next sections we will cover how the PDP and the AI Visibility widgets work respectively.
AI Visibility - The PDP Widget
- SETUP
First, go to the AI Visibility tab → Set up AEO and fill in all the steps (video sources, brand keywords etc. - no worries, you will be able to revisit these after the initial setup).

- REVIEW QUESTIONS AND CITATIONS
After the initial setup (and the backfill is done), go to the Products tab.

Click on each product, then approve / reject / edit the questions our AI has created - these will populate the AI Visibility widget for the PDP. The approved questions will appear on a preview of the widget, on the right side of the screen.

After reviewing and approving / rejecting the questions, click on “Publish on site” - when returning to the Products tab, the product will appear on the Live tab.

- INSTALLATION
Go to your Shopify Theme Editor (Live theme) → Product template where you want to install the widget → Add a “Videowise AEO - Widget” App block wherever you want on the page.
If the Product is set to Live in Videowise, the AI Visibility section will now be live on the site.

The PDP widget needs to be published for each individual product. It is preferable to delay publishing until at least 3 relevant QAs have been generated. QAs with only one video citation can also be delayed since new citations are continously discovered by our system.

Copyright Considerations
UGC content coming from the Videowise UGC section, and not from the customer’s owned social media accounts, is rendered using the official Instagram and TikTok embed players.
This helps avoid copyright complications and reduces the need for customers to manually request separate usage rights for that content.
Content uploaded directly to the Videowise Media Library is rendered through the Videowise embedded player.
Product-Level AI Visibility Widget: How It Works

Videowise analyzes product videos to identify valuable product insights, extract relevant Q&As, group similar topics, and remove duplicates.
The suggested Q&As are shown to the store owner in the Videowise admin for review and approval.
Once the AI Visibility widget is published in Videowise and the app block is added to the Shopify PDP template, the approved Q&A content is rendered on the product page.
The content is server-side rendered, meaning it is included in the page HTML from the initial load. This allows LLMs and crawlers to read the AI Visibility content without executing JavaScript.
Some Shopify themes lazy load sections, meaning the AI Visibility widget may not appear in the initial HTML until the user scrolls. This should be avoided because it can prevent LLMs and crawlers from seeing the content.
To check if the widget is rendered correctly:
- Open a PDP with a published AI Visibility widget and accepted Q&As.
- Do not scroll.
- Right-click the page and click Inspect.
- Open the Elements tab.
- Search for:
geo_qa_widget
If the search returns results, for example more than 3 matches, the widget is present in the initial HTML and rendered correctly.
If there are no results before scrolling, the theme may be lazy loading the section and the AEO content may not be visible to LLMs or crawlers.

Site-Level AEO Widget: How It Works
- INSTALLATION
The AI Visibility page widget is installed on a new page in Shopify.
How to Create the Page in Shopify
- Duplicate an existing page template. The default page template is fine.
- Name the new template something like Videowise AEO Page.
- Add the Videowise AEO - Page block to the template.

- Create a new Shopify page.
- Assign the newly created template to that page.
- Publish the page.
2. CONSIDERATIONS
The site-level AI Visibility widget works like a central repository for all published AI Visibility Q&As from all the products.
Unlike the product-level AI Visibility widget, the Q&As are not grouped by product. They are listed in reverse publication order, with the latest Q&As shown first.
The purpose is to give LLMs and crawlers a single access point where they can discover the latest product Q&As across the store.

DASHBOARD - HOW TO INTERPRET RESULTS

Videowise has an internal monitoring system that tracks the brand’s visibility in LLM-generated results., generating a visibility score which is the share of brand-mentioning responses that include your brand.
The system also monitors competitors and tracks the position of both the brand and competitors in suggested product lists.
Next you can see your average position across llm answers (and the position of your competitors as well). NOTE: A score of 1 means that your brand is typically mentioned first in LLM responses.

LLM Prompts
These are the questions tracked across LLM engines - you can see in this section how their ranking moved. The promps can be added, edited, removed, or grouped into custom categories.

For each question, Videowise queries the supported LLMs:
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Claude
- Perplexity
Ranking changes are tracked for each individual question and globally, as a brand average across all collected answers.
CITATIONS
Usually, the loss in rankings happens when LLMs change cited sources. If the brand does not show in the cited sources, they loose visibility. This happens continuously on all LLMs because they tend to cite either authoritative sources or fresh content.
To this end, we’ve added a Citations section in the answer modal - you can analyse the citations and understand where these come from (click on a question → see the LLM answers where you were mentioned → Citations) - based on this, we recommend creating a strategy for generating similar content (a process not related to Videowise, but very useful for the AI Visibility initiative). In Videowise, we recommend doing the following:
- always add fresh content to the aeo widget
- cover as many PDPs as possible with the AI Visibility widget

External Monitoring Tools
You can also use external tools to monitor traffic and mentions from LLMs, such as Google Analytics, Mentions.so, Peec AI, Profound, or similar platforms.
