How to promote a live show with Facebook Live Video Ads
Learn how to promote your Videowise live shows with Facebook Live Video Ads, reach new audiences, and let viewers shop directly in the stream.
Reach people beyond your followers by promoting your Videowise live show with Facebook Live Video Ads. Your show runs as a paid ad while you’re live, and Meta Live Shopping Tools lets viewers shop featured products directly in the Facebook stream.
Available for Shopify stores only. Your Facebook Page must meet Meta’s eligibility requirements.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- The Facebook and Instagram sales channel installed on Shopify, with your product catalog synced and approved.
- Live Video Ads enabled in Meta Ads.
- A Facebook Page that belongs to a Meta business with an active, business-owned ad account. Personal ad accounts will not appear in Videowise.
- Facebook connected to Videowise.
If you connected Facebook before the Live Shopping permission became available, reconnect it once to grant the required permission.
Install and connect Facebook & Instagram on Shopify
In your Shopify admin, check Sales channels in the left sidebar. If Facebook & Instagram appears there, the channel is already installed. Open it to check that your account is connected and your product catalog is synced and approved.
If the channel is missing:
- Go to Settings → Sales channels → Shopify App Store.
- Search for Facebook & Instagram by Meta.
- Click Add channel or Add app and follow the installation prompts.
- Open the channel and click Start set up.
- Follow the prompts to connect your Meta account and select the business assets for your store.
- Complete the setup and make sure your product catalog is synced and approved before setting up Live Video Ads.
For more details, see Shopify’s Facebook and Instagram setup guide.
Connecting Meta to Shopify and connecting Facebook to Videowise are separate steps. Make sure Facebook is also connected in Videowise.
Connect your account to Videowise
- In Videowise, go to Settings → Integrations → Social media.
- Under Instagram, connect your account. If you need to use a different account, click Add another account.
- Follow the Facebook Login for Business prompts to sign in and complete the authorization.
Once connected, open your live show and click Activate on Facebook. Select the Facebook Page associated with the account you connected under Social media.
Step 1: Create your campaign in Meta Ads Manager
- Open Meta Ads Manager and create a campaign. You can use the Sales objective.
- Turn on Live video ad and select Facebook as the live video location.
- Under Budget strategy, select Ad set budget. Videowise sets the budget separately for each show, so campaigns using Campaign budget will not appear in Videowise.
- Turn off Share up to 20% of your budget with other ad sets.
- Publish the campaign.
Videowise will automatically create the ad set and ad when you save your Live Video Ads setup from inside the Videowise live show management page. You will be able to define the ad set budget when you enable the feature inside Videowise.
Keep budget sharing turned off. Otherwise, Meta may reject the ad with the error: “Lifetime budgets cannot be shared across different schedules.”
Step 2: Schedule your show in Videowise
Create or open your live show, set its start date and time to at least 30 minutes in the future, and save it.
The Promote with Live Video Ads option remains disabled until your show has a saved schedule that meets this requirement.
Plan ahead for Meta’s review. Meta recommends creating the ad approximately 3 hours before going live to allow time for review.

Step 3: Activate Facebook and enable Live Video Ads
- On your show, click Activate on Facebook.
- Select the Facebook Page you want to stream to.
- Keep Meta Live Shopping Tools turned on.
- Turn on Promote with Live Video Ads.
With Meta Live Shopping Tools enabled, products you pin in the Videowise studio appear inside the Facebook live stream, where viewers can shop them.
- Select your ad account.
- Select the campaign you created in Step 1.
- Choose your ad placements:
- Facebook is always enabled.
- Turn on Instagram if you also want the ad to appear in Instagram feed, Stories, and Reels.
- Enter your lifetime budget. This is the total budget for promoting this show, in the ad account’s currency shown in the budget label.
- Click Save.
Videowise requires a minimum budget of 10 in your ad account’s currency. Meta may require a higher minimum depending on the account and currency. If Ads Manager reports that your budget is too low, increase it in Videowise.

Step 4: Check the ad status and go live
After saving, open Meta Ads Manager to check your ad’s status. The ad is submitted to Meta for review and may appear as In review while approval is pending.
Go live at your scheduled time. Ad delivery starts no earlier than the scheduled start, subject to Meta’s approval. Starting your show late can reduce delivery.
The ad runs for the duration of the show, up to 12 hours, and pauses when the show ends.
Managing your ad after setup
- Editing the ad: You can make changes in Meta Ads Manager, but editing the ad sends it back through Meta’s review.
- Rescheduling the show: Change the show’s date and time in Videowise. The ad schedule will update with it. Do not change the ad’s date directly in Meta Ads Manager.
- Removing Facebook: Removing the Facebook stream from the show also deletes the ad.
Tracking Facebook orders
Orders placed through Facebook appear under FACEBOOK in the show’s Analytics.
Currently, these orders are not included in the Sold and Revenue figures in the live header. The Facebook add-to-cart rate also currently displays 0%.
Troubleshooting
My Facebook Page shows “Not eligible”
Your Page may not meet Meta’s Live Shopping requirements, or it may not have an active business-owned ad account.
Check the prerequisites above, then use Reconnect Facebook to grant the required permissions or Check again to refresh eligibility.
Pages that are not eligible for Meta Live Shopping Tools continue to use Comment to buy, where viewers comment a code and receive a checkout link by direct message.
No campaigns appear in the campaign picker
Check that your campaign is published and configured with:
- Live video ad enabled.
- Facebook selected as the live video location.
- Ad set budget selected instead of Campaign budget.
Campaigns using a campaign budget are not listed in Videowise.
The Live Video Ads toggle is disabled
Set the show’s start time to at least 30 minutes in the future, then save the show before enabling Live Video Ads.
My ad shows an error in Meta Ads Manager
Check that:
- Share up to 20% of your budget with other ad sets is turned off.
- Your lifetime budget meets Meta’s minimum for your ad account and currency.
If the budget is too low, increase it in Videowise.
