AI Search Visibility
How to manage Shopify AEO features (UGC Wiki / PDP FAQs)
The Goal: Make Product Videos Understandable, Quotable, and Recommendable by AI
Videowise AEO is designed to help products show up more accurately in AI-generated answers, recommendations, and citations by turning product videos into structured, evidence-backed product knowledge.
Most product videos contain valuable information: real customer language, product benefits, objections, use cases, comparisons, ingredients, sizing details, and proof points. But today, that content is mostly invisible to AI systems. LLMs and crawlers usually do not watch videos, interact with widgets, or understand what is being said in embedded video experiences.
Videowise solves this by extracting product-relevant insights from videos and transforming them into crawlable, structured Q&A content. Each answer is backed by specific video citations, so AI systems can understand not only what the product claims, but also where the evidence comes from.
The result is a product page that is no longer limited to static PDP copy. It becomes enriched with video-backed answers that help AI assistants better understand, recommend, and cite the product.
Main AEO feature functionalities
- Analyze product videos and extract useful product knowledge
- Generate product-specific Q&A
- Generate accepted answers grounded in video evidence
- Create video citations
What video content is used for AEO purposes
All video content from the Videowise Media Library and UGC sources is eligible to be used for AEO citations.
Before a video is used, Videowise scores its quality based on several signals, including:
- video duration, ideally between 15 seconds and 20 minutes
- presence of spoken audio, not music-only content
- whether the product is shown
- whether the product is mentioned
- whether the brand name is mentioned
After onboarding, Videowise automatically scans your library to identify useful AEO content. This initial scan is called Backfill and usually takes around 20 minutes.
Backfill is important because it creates the first batch of proposed AEO Q&As.
During this phase, only videos with tagged products are selected. This helps keep the generated Q&As accurate and correctly linked to the right products.
After onboarding and backfill, the system enters a continuous learning phase.
From this point on, new video content from the Media Library and UGC sources is automatically analyzed, scored, and used to generate proposed AEO questions, answers, and citations.
All AEO questions, answers, and citations are proposals.
Nothing is published on your site without your approval.
PDP widget needs to be published for each individual product. It is preferable to delay publishing until at least 3 relevant QAs have been generated. QAs with only one video citation can also be delayed since new citations are continously discovered by our system.

Copyright Considerations
UGC content coming from the Videowise UGC section, and not from the customer’s owned social media accounts, is rendered using the official Instagram and TikTok embed players.
This helps avoid copyright complications and reduces the need for customers to manually request separate usage rights for that content.
Content uploaded directly to the Videowise Media Library is rendered through the Videowise embedded player.
LLM’s entry points
This feature provides 2 new app blocks which render the AEO content on PDP’s and on a dedicated QA’s repository.
These effectively act as entry-points for LLMs, allowing them to discover the entire QA’s + citations graph.

Product-Level AEO Widget: How It Works

Videowise analyzes product videos to identify valuable product insights, extract relevant Q&As, group similar topics, and remove duplicates.
The suggested Q&As are shown to the store owner in the Videowise admin for review and approval.
Once the AEO widget is published in Videowise and the app block is added to the Shopify PDP template, the approved Q&A content is rendered on the product page.
The content is server-side rendered, meaning it is included in the page HTML from the initial load. This allows LLMs and crawlers to read the AEO content without executing JavaScript.
Some Shopify themes lazy load sections, meaning the AEO widget may not appear in the initial HTML until the user scrolls. This should be avoided because it can prevent LLMs and crawlers from seeing the content.
To check if the widget is rendered correctly:
- Open a PDP with a published AEO widget and accepted Q&As.
- Do not scroll.
- Right-click the page and click Inspect.
- Open the Elements tab.
- Search for:
geo_qa_widget
If the search returns results, for example more than 3 matches, the widget is present in the initial HTML and rendered correctly.
If there are no results before scrolling, the theme may be lazy loading the section and the AEO content may not be visible to LLMs or crawlers.

Site-Level AEO Widget: How It Works

The site-level AEO widget works like a central repository for all published AEO Q&As.
Unlike the product-level AEO widget, the Q&As are not grouped by product. They are listed in reverse publication order, with the latest Q&As shown first.
The purpose is to give LLMs and crawlers a single access point where they can discover the latest product Q&As across the store.
How to Create the Page in Shopify
- Duplicate an existing page template. The default page template is fine.
- Name the new template something like Videowise AEO Page.
- Add the Videowise AEO - Page block to the template.
- Create a new Shopify page.
- Assign the newly created template to that page.
- Publish the page.
Important Notes
If you already have an llms.txt file on your domain, the new AEO page should be added to it.
For better visibility, the page should also be linked somewhere on the site, ideally in the footer. This increases the chances that LLMs and crawlers will discover and use the page.
Monitoring the LLMs rankings

Videowise has an internal monitoring system that tracks the brand’s visibility in LLM-generated results.
The system also monitors competitors and tracks the position of both the brand and competitors in suggested product lists.
How Monitoring Works
These questions are fully customizable. They can be added, edited, removed, or grouped into custom categories.
For each question, Videowise queries the supported LLMs:
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Claude
- Perplexity
Ranking changes are tracked for each individual question and globally, as a brand average across all collected answers.
External Monitoring Tools
You can also use external tools to monitor traffic and mentions from LLMs, such as Google Analytics, Mentions.so, Peec AI, Profound, or similar platforms.
