How to post shoppable videos to Instagram & Facebook

Follow our guide to enable and post shoppable videos and images to your Facebook & Instagram accounts straight from Videowise using the Comment & Buy feature.

Videowise’s Comment & Buy lets you post images and videos on Facebook and Instagram, where followers can comment a code to receive an automatic DM with a checkout link, allowing them to complete their purchase in one click. Learn more here >

Requirements

Your social media accounts must be connected, and must have the latest authorizations needed in order for Videowise to post.

Head over to Settings > Integration and connect, or reconnect, your Meta and Instagram accounts in order for this feature to work.

‌

Create your first campaign

Head over to Shoppable > Comment & Buy and click on “+ New campaign”.

‌

Set Up

First, enter a campaign name so you can easily find it later in your campaign list.

Then, select the Facebook or Instagram accounts you want to post to, based on the accounts you have connected.

The next step is important, it will define how your followers interact with the post and what they will need to comment in order to get the DM. You can decide if the comments are:

  • Keywords based: Meaning customers can place orders by using keywords in the comments (this allows to have multiple products with different buy codes, and to make multiple sales within a post)
  • +1: Meaning customers can place an order by commenting +1 on the post (this allows to only sell 1 product per post)
‌

Products

If you selected “Keywords based” during the previous step, you will be able to add as many products as you want to this campaign.

Select which products you would like to make shoppable for this campaign, and click on continue.

‌

If you selected “+1”, you will only be asked to select one product from your product list and proceed directly to the post details, as you don’t need to set up buy codes.

‌

Buy Codes

This is relevant only if you have selected “Keywords-based” campaign.

Now, you will need to define:

  • Buy codes for each product
  • Variant code for each variants of your product.
    • You can also unselect variants if you’d like to just display one or selected ones.

In our case, we’ll define:

  • the AI Speaker’s buy code as: AI
    • any variant colors with their respective colors (GRAY, RED, BEIGE, BLUE)

This means that our followers will have to comment AI BEIGE if they would like to receive an instant DM with a direct link to checkout for the beige variant of our AI Speaker.

‌

Post Details

The post details section is where you’ll set up visuals and the description that will get posted on your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

  • Add media (images and videos) to your post. Click on the upload section to browse your Videowise library and choose your media.
    • Facebook posts and API will limit some of the options:

      • If the campaign contains both images and videos, we will only post the images on Facebook.
      • If the campaign contains multiple videos, we will only post the first video added on Facebook.
  • Add a description to your post, just like you would for any social media post.
    • Make sure to include all the buy codes set up at the previous steps if the campaign is keywords-based, or mention the “+1” to comment and receive a DM.

‌

Add-to-Cart DM

When a customer successfully comment a keyword order, a direct message will be automatically be sent to buy the product. In this section, you can customize the automated checkout message sent, as well as the text for the checkout button.

{{orderProductDetail}} is a variable that will display your product’s name or it’s corresponding variant’s name. We highly recommend keeping it.

You can leave this section as it is or customize it to match your brand’s tone!

‌

Comment Auto-Reply

This section lets you control how your page responds to comments on your post when customers interact with your post using one of the buy codes or +1.

Notion image

Auto-reply to comments

When a customer comments with a valid keyword, the system replies in the comment thread to confirm the item was added and directs them to Messenger.

Feel free to adapt it to your brand’s tone as this will appear as publicly visible comments on your posts, posted as replies to your customers’ comments.

DM to reconnect

If a customer hasn’t messaged your brand before, Facebook requires them to start the conversation first. This reply sends them a Messenger link to reconnect.

You can edit the reply text, but the Messenger reconnect link is automatically generated and cannot be changed. This keeps messaging compliant with Facebook policies.

DM if campaign has ended

If someone comments after the campaign ends, they receive a message redirecting them to your website.

You can edit the reply text, but the website link is automatically generated and cannot be removed. This prevents customers from reaching inactive campaigns.

Publish Campaign

This section lets you choose when your campaign will go live.

Publish now

The campaign will be published immediately once you click Publish campaign. No additional settings are required.

Schedule

Choose when your campaign should start and end.

  • Start date: Select when the campaign becomes active.
  • Never expires: Enable this option if you want the campaign to run without an end date. When unchecked, this lets you select when to stop your campaign by adding an End date option.
    • End date: Select when the campaign should stop running.
