How to manage hosts in Videowise
This article will cover all the details about inviting, setting up a host dashboard, and working with commissions.
Hosts are creators, store associates, or brand partners who run your live shows. Each host can carry a commission rate, has their own analytics, and gets credited for the revenue generated during their shows.
Open the Hosts section
Head over to Live Shopping > Hosts. This page lists every host on your account, along with their active shows, total shows, revenue, commissions, and their RSVP and Push permissions.
Invite a host
Click Invite host and fill in:
- Full name
- Commission %: the share of revenue this host earns on their shows.
- Allow RSVP: lets the host receive RSVP notifications for their shows.
- Allow Push notifications: lets the host receive push notifications for their shows.
- Viewer boost: a multiplier between 2x and 10x applied to this host's shows.
The invite appears under Invitations until the host accepts it. You can resend the invite from there if needed. Once accepted, the host moves into the main hosts table.

Edit and manage a host

From a host's page, you can change their name, email, commission rate, Allow RSVP and Allow Push notifications toggles, and viewer boost at any time.
Rate changes only apply to future shows. Shows that already happened keep the commission rate that was active at the time.
Add hosts to a live show
When you set up a live show, the Hosts card has one field that covers two different ways to add someone:
- Saved hosts: search by name or email and pick from your existing list of hosts.
- One-off hosts: type any email address to invite someone for this show only. They are not added to the Hosts section and cannot earn commission.
You can add multiple hosts to the same show. Use the radio selection next to each saved host to choose which one earns commission for that show, only one host per show can earn commission, even if several co-host.
Each host row has a QR code with their personal join link. Once the show is scheduled, every host receives an email with their join link and must join the show from that link.

When a host creates the show (new)
If a host creates the show themselves from their own dashboard instead of an admin, they are automatically set as the host who earns commission, and they cannot remove themselves from the show.
They can still invite other hosts, including one-off and commissioned hosts, but they cannot change who earns commission. Only an admin can reassign that.
How commissions work
- The commission rate is set per host by the admin. Hosts cannot change their own rate.
- Only one host per show can earn commission, even when several hosts co-host.
- The rate applied to a show is always the host's saved rate. It cannot be edited at the show level.
- Commission only counts commissionable items. Excluded items are marked Excluded in the order detail and in the Products sold summary.
- One-off hosts invited by email at show setup cannot earn commission. To pay someone commission, add them in the Hosts section first.
View host analytics

Each host's page shows lifetime totals, active shows, and past shows. Filter by All time, 12 months, 90 days, or 30 days, and export the results to CSV.
Click into a show to see its revenue, commission, duration, participants, and the order list. You'll also find a Products sold summary, the show recording, and a CSV download.
What hosts can and cannot do
Hosts can:
- Create live shows
- Select products for their shows
- Invite other hosts to a show
- View their own analytics: show performance, revenue, commissions, orders, and products sold
- Export their own data to CSV
Hosts cannot:
- See or edit anything in the Settings tab, including policies, latency, integrations, team, and pricing
- Change store policies or stream latency
- Change live channel page settings
- Change global styles
- Change their own commission rate, RSVP or Push permissions, or viewer boost
- See other hosts' analytics or the merchant-wide dashboard
A host's interface is reduced to Shows and Analytics only.

Frequently asked questions
My host can't join the show, what do I do?
Hosts must join from the link in their invite email. If they can't find it, resend the invite from the show page, or have them scan their personal QR code instead.
The commission percentage looks wrong on a show, why?
A show always uses the host's saved commission rate at the time the show happened. Check the current rate in the Hosts section, rate changes don't apply retroactively to past shows.
Why did this host earn nothing on their show?
Either another host was set as the commission earner for that show, this host was added as a one-off email invite rather than through the Hosts section, or the order only contained items excluded from commission.
Why can't my host see the Settings tab?
That's expected. The Settings tab is not available to the host role; hosts only have access to a limited dashboard preview, showing Shows and Analytics.
